13 Jun 2016 Keg Ride Benefiting Joanne González – July 3, 2016
We at Naples Cyclery, Fit & Fuel Cafe, and RipTide Brewing ask you to join us for a casual charity bicycle ride to help Joanne González and her family raise money to cover some of the medical expenses they are incurring following Joanne’s cycling accident in Spain.
Naples resident Joanne González; a 36-year-old veterinarian at Animal Oasis Veterinary Hospital and avid cyclist; had an accident about 1 month ago while road cycling in Majorca, Spain. Although she has been in a coma all this time, doctors assure her family that she will wake up and have explained that, with the extent of her injuries, it is expected that she will remain in this condition for a couple of months. She will be ready to be transferred back to the United States soon, where she will undergo neurological rehabilitation within a few weeks. She will need to be transported via air ambulance, which is very costly.
Entry in to the ride is $25 per participant, all of which will be donated. The ride will be slow paced from the cafe to the brewery. We will load kegs on bike trailers and tow them back to the cafe. 1 complimentary beer will be provided at each location. $1 of each additional beer sold will be donated. Additional donations are welcome and encouraged! Donations can be made directly to Pro Fondo Joanne González Bolívar on youcaring.com or in person at Naples Cyclery. Ride pace is set at 12-15mph with a scenic 8 mile route through Pelican Bay, Crayton Rd. and The Moorings.
